Meeting held at the Qinghai Minhe–Xiaoxia highway project to discuss about the viability of using anti rutting agent to modify warm asphalt mixtures for the asphalt upper layer.

A possible problem identified is possible pavement rutting.

In view of the fact that the traffic type of this highway will largely be heavily loaded vehicles, once put into use, during the long summers in this area, Qinghai toll road management office organized professionals have decided to carry out tests on enhancements to improve durability of the pavement and general anti-rutting performance. This decision has been made after due desk study and discussion. The expert team have finally decided to recommend the use of warm asphalt mixtures anti-rutting agent as the preferred solution.

At 2:30 p.m., On September 26th, the project office held a meeting on the discussions about the viability of warm asphalt anti-rutting agent to be used on the asphalt upper layer. The project office invited three vendors for initial negotiations. Once the winning vendor is decided, the project office will soon start to design the mixture ratio of the upper layer asphalt and the warm asphalt mixture anti-rutting agent. They will start to prepare the implementation of the mixture. Then they will complete the trial section implementation and evaluation, before being used for the whole project. They will do everything they can to ensure that the project is completed by the end of the year.
